The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Borno State Branch is a vibrant and strategic arm of the national body of the Nigerian Medical Association, which has branches in all 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). As a proud member of the Northeast Caucus of the NMA, the Borno Branch plays a critical role in advocating for quality healthcare delivery and the welfare of medical professionals within the region.

Established in 1979, the Borno State Branch has grown steadily, now boasting a membership strength of approximately 950 medical doctors. Our members are distributed across the 27 Local Government Areas of Borno State, serving in various capacities in both public and private health institutions, as well as in humanitarian and academic settings.

The branch is committed to upholding the core objectives of the NMA, which include:

• Promoting and protecting the health of the Nigerian people, particularly in Borno State;
• Advocating for the welfare, rights, and professional development of medical doctors;
• Engaging with stakeholders and the government on policies that impact healthcare delivery;
• Strengthening the medical profession through ethical practices and continuous learning.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the NMA Borno Branch actively participates in medical outreach programs, public health education, and humanitarian interventions, especially in underserved and conflict-affected areas. These efforts are geared towards improving access to quality healthcare and promoting health equity across the state.

The branch continues to stand as a voice for the medical community in Borno and remains dedicated to fostering unity among members, advancing the medical profession, and contributing meaningfully to the overall health sector in Nigeria.
