Dr. Elyakub Yakubu Mohammed

Chairman, NMA Borno State

Dr. Elyakub Yakubu Mohammed hails from Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State and was born and raised in Maiduguri, the capital city of Borno State. He is a Clinical Microbiologist and Pathologist with over 11 years of experience in Public Health Microbiology and outbreak response.

Education and Professional Background

He holds an MBBS degree from the University of Maiduguri and a Master's in Public Health with a specialization in Field Epidemiology from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Dr. Elyakub is a Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College in the Faculty of Pathology, following the completion of his residency training.

He was a resident at the African Field Epidemiology Network/Nigeria Centre for Disease Control from 2018 to 2022. He currently serves as an Outbreak Response Specialist at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and is a visiting lecturer at the University of Maiduguri, Gombe State University, and Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.
